Happy Feathers
My daughter Kerin is one of the most inspirational people I know. Kerin turned 12 last summer and we discussed her taking more responsibility in the aviary, and the way it runs. She has decided to start her own flock, involving other birds than cockatiels. She currently has a breeding pair of parrotlets, diamond doves, parakeets, canaries, lovebirds, and finches.
Mango and Sea Gull, our lovebirds;
I would like to take a moment to welcome to the two newest members of our flock. This is my daughter Kerin [pictured here with Mango and Sea Gull], our peach face lovebirds.
She decided that she would like to start breeding some birds for herself, but her personal preferance came in a slightly different form... Lovebirds! Since we already have two, I agreed. Why not? So hopefully if this pairing is successful, we should have baby lovebirds by christmas, as well as some baby cockatiels. We are now the very proud owners of two absolutely beautiful lovebirds.
SeaGull and Mango have very sweet loving personalities and are extremely affectionate for lovies. I am actually looking forward to babies from them. Loving, doting, affectionate parents mean just as sweet babies for sale. It is amazing to see the aviary grow.

Mango
Our female lovebird is a Green Series Pied split Blue. She is an absolute doll! Doesn't she just look like a ripe juicy mango to you? What a sweetheart she is.
I have discovered with this breeding that Mango is a unique and exceptionally tempered hen, because unlike most females she stays sweet [at least with me] even when she is on eggs and feeding babys. When the babys were about a week old I reached into the box to clean the corners and she lunged at me. At first I thought she was going to bite me, but instead she climbed up on my hand and cuddled with me. What an amazing experience!
Mango was an awsome mommy with her first clutch and all her babys have grown up plump and strong. I am planning to set up Mango with SeaGull for a second breeding, in a few months.

Sea Gull
Our male is a Blue Series American Cinnamon double dark factor. I can clearly see why they are called lovebirds.
Through his first breeding I discovered that he is also split lutino! This is very exciting for me because I have wanted a lutino lovebird for a long time, and now I have one. I have decided to keep her, as a pet. Her name is Skittles.
SeaGull is an amazing daddy and by far surpassed my expectations in this clutch. During the weeks while Mango sat on the eggs, he pataintly doted on her every whim and need. He would feed her when she was hungry, sit on the eggs when she needed to relieve herself and even endured her "hen pecking" when she wasnt in the mood for him.
After the babys hatched he fed Mango at the nest box door and she in turn went in and fed the babys. Once they started leaving the nest box, he too would help with feedings and keeping them warm.

We are proud to announce our first clutch of baby lovies!!!
After only a couple months of being here, Mango and SeaGull decided to set up nest and start a family right away! Out of four fertile eggs, we have 3 thriving beautiful babies. Two were sold and one we held back for future breeding with another male we have added to the flock. The other male is a Green series normal and the female we held back is a lutino blue series American cinnamon pied. Wow, what a mouthful! Her name is Skittles and I will add a picture of her below. As I watch her grow I fall more and more in love with her every day. She almost wasn't born because her egg was overdue and I planned to just toss it. Hovering over the trash I heard the pipping and decided to give her another day! I am so glad I did, she was so worth the wait,
Because this is a sex linked pairing, visual sexing is not only possible but very easy. This means that would will not only get a wonderful aray of colors to choose from, but also will be able to tell the males from females.
We are very excited to make this announcement. They will be set up with nest box within the week, so keep your eyes open for babys coming soon.
Kerin will be their sole caregiver [of course I will double check her] and they will be handled and trained by her as well. I think this will be not only a wonderful work experience for her but also a fabulous addition to our family.
